Casserole
New website lets neighbours share food and cook up community spirit
A new scheme called Casserole has launched in Reigate and Banstead to help residents share extra portions of their home-cooked food with neighbours who are looking for a fresh meal. Casserole community members can serve up tasty food for people who would greatly appreciate a home-cooked meal in their local area, which will also strengthen neighbourhood relationships.
Casserole is a project by FutureGov who use web technology to promote change and social innovation within local public services. The concept was born out of a desire to help bring communities together with the realisation that there are a lot of people cooking up food, and many others who would love a home-cooked meal. The service has already been running as a trial in the Redhill area for six months and the scheme will go Surrey-wide later in the summer.
Visit www.casseroleclub.com where you can create a personal profile of your cooking and eating preferences, search for other Casserole members in your area, and order dinner or offer up dishes for others to eat. As a special treat, the first 50 people to sign up will receive a £5 Sainsbury’s voucher!
